Trinity’s technology transfer office – the Office of Corporate Partnership and Knowledge Exchange (OCPKE) – enables industry access to Trinity’s research excellence and to the outputs of such research. The OCPKE fosters interaction of Trinity researchers with industry partners in a number of ways, including:
- Collaborative research
- Technology evaluation
- Technology licensing
- Internships
- Researchers-in-residence
- Entrepreneurs-in-residence
- Fully-funded research services
The OCPKE supports Trinity researchers with the identification, protection and commercialisation of Trinity’s innovative research. It also facilitates and approves the formation of campus companies. The work of the OCPKE is underpinned by Trinity’s ‘Principles for open innovation’ which outline our approach for effective engagement with public, private and social enterprises in order to stimulate knowledge transfer for social and economic development.
Uniquely among Irish universities, the OCPKE is part of a unit – Trinity Research & Innovation – which provides integrated support all along the research continuum, from funding applications, to contract negotiation, to technology transfer and entrepreneurship training.
Trinity is recognised as one of the world's leading research-intensive universities and its research continues to address issues of global, societal and economic importance. The university's research strategy is based on developing multidisciplinary areas in which the college has the critical mass of world-class researchers needed to deliver research of national and global importance.
